General Configuration

admin menu >> Settings

Website title: The title of your website

Website description: a brief description of your website, this description will also appear in you sites meta tags for search engine listings.

Website keywords: Relevant keywords pertaining to the purpose and content of your website. These keywords will be included in the websites meta tags for search engine listing.

Home Page: Select the content that you wish to appear as your homepage. This could range from a static page, a category that lists various pages/content or a selection of articles.

URL Structure: The URL structure for the CMS Maestro to make use of. The options provided are “default” and “clean” URL’s. By default the CMS Maestro will make use of default URL’s which consist ‘?p=’ statement in the url of the various content of the site. Clean URL’s however are easier to remember and far more search engine friendly, however before you enable clean URL’s you will need to ensure that your Apache server has the mod_rewrite module enabled.

Email Configuration

Admin Menu >> Settings >> Email Settings

Your email address: Enter you contact email address that the CMS Maestro may use to communicate with you

Site Email Address: The email address that you would like the Valente Online CMS Maestro to use to send from (it is advisable to have this address different to your email address. eg: site@example.com or admin@example.com)

Theming

Admin Menu >> Settings >> Theme Settings

The Valente Online CMS Maestro is a fully themable content management system, enabling you to fully customize your website’s layout and design.

Select your desired theme by clicking the activate button under the theme you wish to utilize. You may also customize or create new themes for you site, please see the ‘Creating custom themes’ section for more information

Installing Additional Themes

Installing a custom theme will require FTP access to your server where the CMS Maestro resides.

  • Simply connect to your server via FTP
  • transfer the theme folder into the templates folder of the Valente Online CMS Maestro system
  • Login into the administration dashboard, head to the theme setting section and activate the newly installed theme.

Administrator Accounts

Admin Menu >> Settings >> Administrator Management

The Valente Online CMS Maestro allows for multiple administrators.
Create additional administrator accounts: click on the ‘Add New Administrator Account’ link. Set the administrators email address which will also serve as the login username for that administrator account, select the dashboard access level (see ‘Setting admin component access levels’ for more details), enter the desired administrators password, the system will generate a random password however you may set the password manually. Once all the required details have been entered, click save and the administrator account will be created.

Edit existing administrator accounts: Click the edit button adjacent to the admin account you wish to edit, the Maestro will then load the admin’s account with editable fields where you may update the administrators email address and password.

Delete an administration account: Simply click the delete button of the administrator you wish to purge.
Setting the administrator access level: Administrator system access levels are determined by their access level and the access level of a component, therefore an administrator with an access level of three may access components of 3 or higher. In short the lower the admin access level the higher the privileges. Note that the core settings are only accessible by administrators with an access level of 1.

System component management

Admin Menu >> Settings >> Components

The Valente Online CMS Maestro is an extensible system, meaning its features and functions can be extended by means of add ons or components. Your may manage these components under the component section.

This page will list both active and inactive components, giving you the option to either activate or deactivate the desired components.

Note: certain components are core components, meaning that they are required by the base system in order to function correctly, therefore disabling core components should only be done if you know exactly what you are doing.

Installing Additional Components

  • Login into the administration dashboard, head to the component setting section and activate the newly installed component

Administrator component access levels

The Valente Online CMS Maestro allows for fine tuning the access given to the administrators via access levels.

Access levels are assigned to both the administrator account and the component. For example a component with access level of 3 will be accessible by administrators with access levels of three or less. In short, the lower the access level, the higher the privileges.

To set component access levels, simply enter the desired access level into the access level field and click update.
